Install Horizon Connection Server 8 (2312)
This is a Home Lab installation run through, here you can find the steps on how to install this product on a minimal setup to test the feature sets of Horizon 8 (2303)
Prerequisites
Please go through the below article from VMware for a complete guide of requirements; in my lab, I am running this on a Windows 2019 Server Standard. But let me point out a few major requirements to keep in mind.
Active Directory
SQL Server for Event database
Static IP address
ESXi Hosts( Mine is nested using VMware Workstation)
vCenter

Installation Steps
Let’s start with downloading the installer from the VMware site. You will need your VMware account to download the file.
Download link below
Copy the installer file to your server. Assuming that you have already set the static IP address, Joined to the domain. Then you can run the installer as an Administrator.
Click Yes for the “User Account Control”
Click Next on the Welcome to the Installation Wizard
Accept the terms and Click Next
Leave the directory as default and click next
Installation Options, this is my first server, so the below options are selected.
Horizon Standard Server
Install HTML Access
IPv4
Choose the option and click next
Enter a data recovery password and click next and make sure you secure it safely for future use in case of a restore.
Firewall Configuration,
Let the Installer automatically configure the firewall. Choose Configure Windows Firewall automatically and click next
Setup your Administrator groups and click next
Choose your preference for the VMware User Experience Program and click Next.
Click next on the Operational Data Collection.
Choosing General for this section as mine is an On-premise solution.
Click Install and monitor the progress.
Monitor the progress. This might take a while if you are using a lower configuration like mine.
The installation has been completed; click finish
Finally, test the Horizon Connection Server by accessing the IP from outside the installed connection server VM on a browser(https://YOURHORIZONIPADDR/admin) or use “https://localhost/admin” within the connection server VM.
Click Advanced and proceed to the site
