Capturing Google Chrome Settings in non-persistent Horizon VDI using Dynamic Environment Manager

Updated: May 27, 2022

In this post I will cover the steps to capture the Chrome Settings along with the Google Account Sync using the VMware Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM / UEM ) and roam the settings across the non-persistent VDI pools.

Step 1 :

Start the VMware Dynamic Environment Manager management console and navigate to required directory where you want to download the default Chrome config from market place

Step 2 :

Click Download Config Template.

  1. Browse to and select a location for the configuration file.

  2. Search for the template Google Chrome & Click on Next.

  3. Click Save & Close.

Step 3 :

Once the Import is complete, click on the application & navigate to Import / Export tab, update the below mentioned setting. Config file contains can be downloaded from GitHub.

Navigate to DirectFlex tab, Enable DirectFlex for this config file, under the "executables" tab add chrome.exe.

Step 4 :

Click on the "Save Config File"

Once the application configuration is created in DEM console & applied, you can test by logging in to a Horizon VDI Pool, make the required changes with respect to your chrome bookmark, plugins & Google Account Sync, then log off from the desktop pool & re-login to validate all the settings are persistent.
